Court of Appeal's Hon. Lady Justice Catherine N. Bamugemereire is among the six international recipients of distinguished awards for their noteworthy accomplishments from a US university.

The SMU Dedman School of Law(where Justice Bamugemereire did her Master's degree) recognized her with a Global Alumni Award in recognition of her resilience shown in the fight against corruption.

She was awarded during the University's 30th Distinguished Alumni ceremony in Dallas Texas on April 6,2017.

The University has since 1986 been awarding its alumni worldwide "because their personal and professional stature to reinforce the quality of the legal education program of the school." Each year alumni who distinguish themselves by rendering outstanding service in one of the six areas scoop the awards.
